Eric and Thomas's exhibition 'Do Your Thing' opens Saturday, June 9, 6 to 8pm at White Columns in NY's West Village.

We'll also be launching the Rub N Tug 'Party Starter' vinyl 'mix tape' as heard on Beats In Space #628. Edition of 300 copies with hand painted sleeves by Eric and Thomas.

Marth June 7, 2012 6:21 AM

Jacorb Korn is one of the most boring 'beats in space guest dj sets'
ever. Love the 'Baio' edit!!! Really Cool Edit? Remix?

Marth June 7, 2012 6:39 AM

Oh Sorry! That's not 'Baio'! 'MIND FAIR - KERRY'S SCENE (LEGOWELT RMX)'
Sounds like 'Baio'!

JM June 9, 2012 9:52 AM

Rub N Tug set @ 28:48 Ferenc - Yes Sir, I Can Hardcore (Michael Mayer Mix)

1982 June 9, 2012 5:33 PM

Hot Rod June 11, 2012 11:10 AM

^^^^^^^ what timings? That's still their Party Starter mixtape thing

e.l.f. June 12, 2012 4:09 AM

agree with 1982's sentiments....seems like an endless repetition of your buddies & and your buddy's buddies....this bland jacob korn type stuff that everyone plays - we get it! how about the fresh sounds? the risky DJ's & music...?

sasha June 12, 2012 6:20 AM

ето все хорошо ))))но когда появиться ricardo villalobos?????

Yibn June 12, 2012 11:19 AM

Any idea on track 20?

Georgios June 13, 2012 5:29 AM

Any idea which songs starts at 13:22 of Rub n Tub mix? :)

Kojak June 13, 2012 9:57 AM

^^^ Sounds to me like a rather good re-edit of Carl Bean's "I was born this way"

simian5 June 14, 2012 12:05 PM

The track that kicks off @ 13.20 into the R&T mix is EPIC... any ideas?

ERIC Duncshit Thomas Asshole June 15, 2012 5:30 AM

track 18 - is Shingo Suwa and Akira Hawkes

G-G-G Garth June 18, 2012 5:05 PM

Track 14 = DJ Garth & ETI - 20 Minutes of Disco Glory, Mirror Boys Rmx (Grayhound Recs). one of Thom's alter-egos.

Helmut June 20, 2012 5:36 AM

no come on, track 14 is emperor machine!

Steve June 25, 2012 6:11 PM

I find it insulting that Rub N Rug took the lyrics (and credit) out of Carl Bean's Born this Way. This is where unnecessary edits go too far. Way to take a power out of such an important track for your own benefit. Way hip.

Hot Rod June 26, 2012 6:53 AM

Steve - it's a cut-up mixtape compiled from their live gig recordings - who knows who's edit they were playing - it's supposed to be fun. All the old hip hop dudes wouldn't 'credit' people on their mixtapes, it was competitive and secrets make things more exciting. Aside from that - I've never really dug Carl's vocal on that song, esp. the chorus, so I don't mind a more looped/housey version - it's horses for course

k June 26, 2012 12:30 PM

Helmut, can u tell what is the name of track, please )

Jordi June 27, 2012 10:50 PM

What!? just half of the show for them it's to skimp on. Anyway, it was great to hear of them again in the Show.

White Columns June 29, 2012 12:09 PM

Just to clarify re: the Rub N Tug vinyl 'mix tape' they played on the show. It is a vinyl only, two-sided LP assembled from live recordings (originally made on mini disc) of Rub N Tug DJing at various downtown NY spots c. 2002 (inc. Passerby where they did the legendary Campfire parties.) Its been released in an edition of 300 copies, with hand painted sleeves by Thomas and Eric - to coincide with the exhibition they curated for White Columns. Its a 'historical document' (if you will!) of them DJing a decade ago, so there's no 'credit' being taken for any of the songs (or parts of songs) included in the mix. To the best of my knowledge I can't think of another live vinyl recording of a DJ's set ... but maybe there are others? (e.g. Was Bambaataa's 'Death Mix' actually recorded live? Maybe so.) Anyway ... it's great, and it's available from White Columns if you are interested. Only 100 copies have been made available for sale, the rest were incorporated into an artwork by Thomas and Eric and/or gifted to friends. Cheers.

Really loved the Jacob Korn mix... rub´n´tug was ok, though not great... their "attitude" was a bit annoying... bloody hipsters

katzler July 28, 2012 12:08 PM

@ white columns: To the best of my knowledge I can't think of another live vinyl recording of a DJ's set ... but maybe there are others?
